Archive/IMAGE3.0/Elements summary
A component in the wiki corresponds with an IMAGE book chapter for a model and uses more or less the same structure. The wiki supports this structure with categories, properties, templates and forms. View the Energy demand page for a component example. This manual starts with an introduction to the elements, their classification and purpose. There is an How to enter my chapter:step by step guide to support the transformation from book text to wiki text.
Elements
A component consists of an introduction page, three main pages: Detailed description; Policy interventions and Data uncertainties and limitations; and a reference page.
Introduction page
The 'Introduction' and the 'Links to other parts' from the book chapter are part of this page, see the figure to the right. The red arrows points to different component elements of this page, the blue arrows points to elements of the wiki itself. An explanation of the elements follows below.
- Page title: All chapters of the book have been given a corresponding component page with the same title in the wiki, see Conceptual Framework Overview for the component pages. Every component also has a component code, see Component code overview.
- Key policy questions: The questions are initially taken from the book chapters. You can change these questions via Key policy questions overview or add a question via Form:KeyPolicyQuestionForm. Naming convention for key policy questions is 'PQ'<seqnr>_<component code>, e.g. PQ2_EC is the second policy question for the model component 'Energy conversion'.
- Introduction part: This is the introduction text from the model chapter. See the guidelines for web texts to adjust your text for the web.
- Infobox: Each component has an infobox that comprises all the important relations to other parts of the wiki. The relations are stored as properties in the wiki. The relations are grouped per property: Related IMAGE components; Projects/applications; Implemented in computer model; key references and References. The same set of relations will be displayed on the other pages of the component with exception of the references. This group only contains the citations on the actual page.
- Framework icon: Every component gets an scheme icon (already done) with a marked box, designating the component in the scheme. This way the user knows the position of the component in IMAGE framework. The icon links to the Conceptual Framework Overview page.
- Flowchart: A flowchart has been made for each model and is already uploaded in the wiki. The chart visualizes the in- and outputs and the model processes and is displayed as an 'thumbnail'. The small figure links to a flowchart page where the chart can be viewed screen wide. You can edit the caption of the figure here.

Structure
Introduction, links to other parts of the system and flowchart are all on the starting page of the component. There are subpages for Model description; Data and uncertainties and the References.
Each page contains an infobox. Here all links to related information are gathered. They form the context of the component. An infobox consists of categories: Related IMAGE components; Project/applications; Externaml Models; Key references; References. The infobox appears on all (main) subpages of the component with the same information, except for references. They have a page scope.
Steps to create a component
In the menu, under useful forms and upload figures, are placed all the 'tools' for creating a component. Steps: You can start with adding all the elements of a component:
- Upload the flowchart with 'Add component flowcharts' and fill in the metadata
- Upload the component icon with 'Add an icon'
- Use 'Add policy interventions' to create an policy intervention. Choose a meaningful name for each intervention. They will be used in overviews, see Policy_interventions_overview. Append the component code in parentheses, e.g. Agricultural trade policies (AEF).
- add baseline figure
- add policy intervention figures
Now we have all elements. Open or create the component. You can do this (new or existing component) with 'Add a component to the wiki' or use the Conceptual_Framework_Overview, select your component and use the edit option above the page.
- Start with the Introduction
Any time you encounter a project; external Model etc. use the form fields to couple these to the infobox.
- Save the page
Use the links under Main pages header and create the subpages (Note Rineke check ttemplate...)
